I don’t know about you, but I am “In my Travel Era!” In this season of life, traveling to new and exciting places, reading a great book, and creative writing are where it’s at for me. I feel like I have struck gold when I can finally pick up one of the 300 books I’ve got pinned to my “Must Read” Pinterest board or a recently-ordered book that is waiting patiently for me to pick up to read. However, sometimes life and seasons get the best of us, and we miss out on refueling our bodies and brains. Both are very important to us creatives. Some seasons of life are so incredibly hectic that you feel like a house of cards—one strong breeze would blow the whole thing over.
I have been fortunate to travel more each year as my children grow older and become more independent. This has led me to explore some incredible places and meet amazing people. You don’t need to leave the country to enjoy traveling with a new book and your favorite people. However, I always tell my travel clients, “That’s always an option!”
Depending on how spicy you’re feeling will depend on what kind of destination would be the best fit for you. There’s a place for everyone in every season of life.
I wanted to share my personal top destinations for 2024 and 2025.
Costa Rica
You’ll often hear “Pura Vida” (poo-rah vee-duh). It’s more than just “pure life” in its literal English translation; it’s the quintessential Costa Rican phrase. Costa Ricans embrace a lifestyle that celebrates life’s simplest pleasures and finds joy in every little thing. It’s a feeling, a perspective—a way of genuinely savoring life! Costa Rica is a Blue Zone. These zones are remarkable geographical areas with a high concentration of long-lived populations, where individuals often reach ninety or one hundred years of age. I visited here in February and had the best time. There are some incredible areas of Costa Rica. Explore beachfront resorts, dense rainforests with waterfalls, and one of the world’s most active volcanoes. Reserva Conchal is a Central America “hotspot.”
Reserva Conchal is located on Costa Rica’s most beautiful beaches. It is an idyllic place to connect with nature and make new friends in a peaceful setting. Telluride, Colorado
This is a year-round city in Colorado for adventure-seekers or winter sports enthusiasts. Most people know the Telluride area is known for its world-class skiing and winter activities. However, did you know the most fun thing to do is sit in your bathrobe by the fire in your villa? Add in your favorite “Blush Magazine” recommended book, and BAM!—a cozy read for our fans of fiction! With incredible dining, views, world-class spas, and activities for everyone, whether winter, spring, summer, or fall, this city is not to be missed. The views alone will sell itself. A getaway that is much more than just a skier’s paradise.
There are incredible resorts and hotels nestled in convenient locations. Whether you want to hide away or “see and be seen.” There are options for everyone in every season of life.
